Hi everyone,
Here is my list of things that are strange or irritating. I compliled this list over the past year. If you agree, repost. Or, just for fun, add your own. The top were posted by Jay:
1. Text messaging on phones - why does it try to automatically spell words, then totally screw you up? And, why text? It's cheaper to just talk. Isn't it called a cell PHONE for a reason?
2. Congress: An organization that spends all of its time inventing new laws to take away our freedom. Next year, Congress should take a year to eliminate all the old, stupid, or rights infringing laws that are on the books. Make life simpler.
3. Cell phone companies that market phones to the 8 and under crowd: Sorry, 8 year olds have no business with cell phones. If you get one because you don't always know where your kid is, guess what? ALWAYS know where your kid is at.
4. Zero Tolerence School Policies: A 2nd grader was suspended recently for drawing a picture of a stick figure shooting a gun. He was suspended under the Zero Tolerence Policy. Sorry, but how does that violate a no weapons policy? Get a life, and better yet, learn the lesson you just taught that kid - adults have no common sense and hide behind silly rules. Reform these laws so that there is a decision making process that weeds out frivilous punishment. That kid will grow up to hate any type of authority. HELLO ACLU??? Where are you on this one?
5. Political Ads: Tell me real facts, not just emotional pleas for votes. Oh, and most of them are lies. You must do real research to learn about your candidate.
6. Legislation, pork, tack on amendments: Why does a bill that is for increasing the defense budget (and helping our troops overseas) include 3 million to build a bridge to nowhere in Alaska, money to fix highways in Arkansas, a payraise to some government employees, etc? Eliminate the add on bills. This is no way to run a government. If you want a defense bill, make it ONLY a defense bill. Time to stop the pork.
7. Increased government involvement in our lives: No smoking in bars. No smoking outdoors near certain offices. Cameras watching you at intersections. Eavesdropping on our phone calls, email, etc. This is getting to be too much. Time to scale back the 1984 Orwellian society we are developing.
8. Nosehair and backhair: Why does it grow there so well, but not where it is receeding on my scalp?
9. Outrageous prices for fuel, milk, orangejuice, etc. This is getting out of hand. Prices have gone up 200% in the past four years. Imagine where it will be in 10?
I'll add more later. In the meantime, add your own!
