Roe V Wade

All,

This is an important blog to me, not just because I feel strongly about abortion morally, but because I would have 2 older siblings if my mother decided to support life. I could easily have been aborted as well, but for the Grace of God. For anyone considering abortion, anyone who has had an abortion, or anyone who supports the abortion cause, I ask that you read this carefully.
Dr. Fredrik Broekhuizen performs abortions and testified under oath in US District Court on April 5th, 2004 about how he does abortions. The following describes LEGAL activity:
"I will then, while holding on to the fetus...try and ease those parts through the cervix...The fetus will either continue to come or will begin to break apart. It will break apart wherever or whatever it is. It may be in the middle of the leg, it may be at the abdomen, it may be at the chest... (Planned Parenthood v. Ashcroft)
The preceeding discussion is based upon the experience that an abortion doctor has on a daily basis. Abortions have been performed in the past almost to the point of birth. Currently, there is a moratorium on 3rd trimester abortions. In those abortions, doctors reported that the most effective method of killing the fetus was to inject the womb with saline solution, causing a poisoning effect, followed by cutting a hole in the skull of the fetus and using a vacuum to remove the brain. The fetus would then be sectioned and removed from the womb. Thank God that late term abortions are now illegal.
However, a baby has feeling within weeks of conception. I will not elaborate on facts here, they are easily attainable on most websites about abortion. However, I do question some of the myths associated with abortion. Allow me to enumerate some below:
1. It is a woman's right to choose: Yes, I fully agree. It is a woman's right to choose whether or not she has sex. Once a pregnancy ensues, I believe that a woman has no right to end the life of an unborn child. Using the logic currently in place to support abortion, a woman should have the right to kill her children, born or unborn. Can you imagine an inconvenienced mother killing her children on the street or taking them to a doctor to be euthanized, with no punishment to follow? That is just as ridiculous as a woman going to an abortion clinic and having her unborn baby mercilessly killed. There is no difference.
2. Life does not begin until birth: Tell that to the baby. Life is defined as anything that grows, respirates, reproduces, intakes energy and expels waste. A fetus meets all those requirements. A fetus can feel pain within several weeks of conception. It can move, suck its thumb, and fully resembles a person in just several more weeks. How could it not be classified as alive? Many premature babies have survived their early births spending less time in the womb than is legal for an abortion. If a baby can be born premature and is no older than an aborted fetus, how can we not classify the fetus as alive? We are not in the Dark Ages, and we no longer believe that passage through the cervix is the lifegiving process. If that were so, explain what a Caesarian Section does to provide life?
3. It is a political issue: No, it is a moral issue. It is life and death. There are major consequences, not just to the murdered fetus, but also to the mother. Many women have the equivalent of PTSD following abortions. Often times the women suffer resulting medical conditions. Mr. Ron Fitzsimmons, Executive Director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers states to the New York Times (26 February 1997) that, "the abortion rights folks know it, the anti abortion folks know it, and so probably, does everyone else. One of the facts of abortion is that women enter abortion clinics to kill their fetuses. It is a form of killing...you're ending a life." This man is a SUPPORTER of abortion.
4. The true politics of confusion: The same left leaning people who support abortion (in 2000, 1.31 million abortions were performed) tend to oppose the war in Iraq. Where does it make sense to support the deaths of 1.31 million babies who couldn't choose their fate, yet oppose a war fought by volunteers that has claimed 3,000 American lives? That doesn't make any sense at all! 1.31 million dead babies are acceptable losses? However, the same left leaning citizens (California) who support abortion passed a law making it a double murder to kill a pregnant woman. (Lacy Peterson Case). If killing a pregnant woman causes loss of the fetus, and the fetus is deemed alive enough to be murdered, how than can't it be considered alive enough to be protected from abortion?
There are options other than abortion. Most abortions occuring in this nation are not due to rape, incest, or massive deformation of the fetus. Those reasons are sad, yet understandable. No, most abortions in the US are deemed, "convenience abortions". It simply isn't convenient to keep the baby. This murder of innocents is the near the end of a terrible legacy of consumerism. We are a disposable society. If it isn't pleasant or convenient, we get rid of it. Now, this pertains to babies as well. If you are a grandparent, watch out. The next step is the euthanasia of the elderly. Who's next? Little by little, with the disintegration of ethics, morals, and the loss of a societal belief in God, we are slipping into a society not unlike the Nazi's. We no longer value human life. We as a nation fake our outrage at crime, yet hover around a TV to catch the sickest of details. (Does anyone else believe that the media couldn't wait to tell the world that the boys who were recently rescued from a kidnapper that they were repeatedly molested? The media was salivating over the chance for a sordid story as soon as Ben and Shawn were rescued. That is the society we have devolved in to.) We are a society living in chaos, with no firmament to stand upon. We are postmoral. The greatest symbol of this postmoralism is the devaluation of human life. Every abortion committed takes us further from our salvation as a nation. Please, take the time to look at the links I have provided below if I didn't convince you that abortion is wrong and evil. Or, you could simply ask the lady whose lawsuit made abortion legal in the US (Roe v. Wade), Jane Roe aka Norma McCorvey. She is now a strong supporter of the Pro-Life movement.
If you are considering an abortion, please, contact one of these organizations. You can always make a phonecall and take the time to make the right choice. You can't bring back a life. Please pass this blog on in bulletin form, or copy and paste it to your blog. I don't need the credit, the act of reposting this is credit to Him who created us all. If you had an abortion and want to reconcile yourself, be glad. If you are truly sorry, you will be forgiven. Speak to any local minister, or visit your local Catholic Church. There are people who can help you, and there are many who love you. The Church is here to help, not to hurt. Thank you for reading this message!
