RIP MAJ (ret) MIKE KALLA 1940-2008
Mike,
You will be missed by all of us who were lucky and honored enough to know you.I'm sure you're already getting things "straightened out" up in Heaven for the rest of us.You will always be in our prayers. Thanks Mike, for being a wonderful teacher, friend, and soldier. Garry Owen!!MAJ Michael Kalla, Vietnam Veteran. Fought in Ia Drang campaign, S2 for LTG (then LTC) Hal Moore (We Were Soldiers Once, and Young). Later Company Commander and Province Advisor. Mike was the recipient of the Silver Star, three Bronze Stars for Valor, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, and other awards and decorations from his illustrious military career. After 24 years in the Army, he retired and took on an equally demanding and challenging profession: teacher. Mike taught at Bradwell High School in Hinesville Ga then went on to teach at a private Catholic school until his death on Friday. Mike was a leader and former Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, leader of the St. Stephen's Catholic Church Men's Club, and the instructor for RCIA at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.Mike, you were and will always be an inspiration. Good friends like you are difficult to find, and even more difficult to lose.
Holy Father, accept thy servant Michael into your Heavenly Kingdom. Hail Mary, full of Grace, blessed art Thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now until the hour of our death, Amen.
